Canadian ESL English Teacher Web Resource Links

Canada's Digital Collections

The link to this page lists the projects included in Canada's Digital Collections (CDC). CDC was operated by Industry Canada between 1996 and 2004 to provide young Canadians with skills and experience in preparing digital Canadian content of local, regional and international interest. The various collections that were produced during this time period have now been archived by Library and Archives Canada.

The Canadian Language Benchmarks

The Canadian Language Benchmarks were developed for Citizenship and Immigration Canada by the Centre for Language Training and Assessment in Ontario. LINC uses the 1 to 12 level program for the assessments of new Canadians language proficiency.

LINK programs are offered free to qualified individuals for a one year period up to level 5. Candidates should note that most entry level jobs require level 8 skills and ability and most professions require level 10 to 12. Tutor prices for the level 5 to level 12 professional English classes range in price from $25 to $65 per hour.

The Canadian Association of Second Language Teachers

The Canadian Association of Second Language Teachers (CASLT) was established in 1970 and has evolved from a small organization of volunteers dedicated to supporting second language teachers into a multi-level national professional organization.
